Job Description:
Apple’s IS&T Accessibility Center for Excellence (CoE) team is a group created with the purpose of promoting and supporting accessibility globally across Apple, partnering to embed accessibility into customer and employee facing digital services, apps and websites.
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Web Accessibility Engineer to join our CoE team and grow their expertise in accessibility consulting. This role requires curiosity, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and someone eager to be hands-on in a high paced environment.
As a Web Accessibility Engineer on the team, this role requires a foundational understanding of technical accessibility standards to support remediation efforts using established testing methodologies. You will perform accessibility evaluations of web applications, document findings clearly, and contribute actionable recommendations under the guidance of senior team members.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering throughout the project lifecycle, supporting accessibility reviews and helping ensure inclusive experiences are built into the product from the ground up. You will also contribute to the team’s accessibility training materials, tooling, and standards as you grow in the role.
- Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in web accessibility and front-end engineering
- Foundational knowledge and experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.x guidelines and WAI-ARIA specifications
- Experience with testing with assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, JAWS, or NVDA
- Ability to identify and contribute accessible code fixes using web technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Preferred Qualifications
- Eagerness to independently learn new technologies and accessibility best practices
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work alongside both technical and non-technical team members
- A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in building working relationships across teams
